06:00 – My alarm goes off.
06:45 – Check emails, kiss the wife goodbye, and head out to battle Cambridge traffic and the apparently endless supply of people who should not have passed their test.
08:00 – Arrive at work, make a coffee, and cradle it like a newborn.
08:15 – Site walk, seriously considering whether a nap in our wellness room counts as "site walking." Our wellness room (sometimes called a quiet room or reflection room) is our dedicated, private space in our workplace designed for rest, recovery, and mental or physical wellbeing during the working day; our members love it!
08:30 – Check Outlook, load approximately one million tasks onto my to-do list, immediately regret it.
09:00 – 11:00 – Say the word "morning" roughly 2,000 times to everyone who walks through the door along with their name. Knowing all of our members by name is a personal touch which we are proud of.
11:00 – Top up the coffee machine — our members love their coffee, and they love it strong.
12:00 – Contemplate lunch. Fail to make a decision. Buy four packets of sweets instead and call it a meal.
13:00 – Coffee number three.
14:00 – Chase up every lead in our system. My daily catch up with potential members — the best part of my day, finding out what they need from a workspace.
14:30 – Top up the coffee machine. Again. (Told you they love it.)
14:45 – Scheduled "connect with a colleague" slot. Supporting colleagues is key at Mantle Space.
15:00 – Call Georgia at 95 Regent Street and ask her the same question I've now asked 14 times before. She's very patient with me.
15:30 – Back to the long-term project. Good things take time.
15:45 – Coffee number seven. Who's counting. (I'm counting.)
16:00 – Watch the clock, tidy the to-do list, pretend the day isn't nearly over.
17:00 – Text the wife to say I'm on my way, call Mum for the journey home.
18:00 – Get home, change into “comfies”. Anyone who stays in their jeans past this point is committing a crime.
18:30 – Finish cooking dinner, sit down with the wife, and listen properly to her day.
19:00 – Wash up, then out for a walk to solve all the world's problems.
20:00 – Sofa, TV, more sweets or chocolate, robot hoover deployed like a tiny mechanical colleague.
23:00 – Bed, and an episode (or three) of an overly dramatic American series.
