Nine Hills Road – The new Mantle location in Cambridge

Not for the first time during this pandemic, Mantle has opened the doors to a new business centre. Back in March, on the eve of the first lockdown, Mantle launched The Lambourn in Abingdon. This November saw the introduction of Nine Hills Road in Cambridge. Opening during these times has had its challenges. However, as with all Mantle centres, these new workspaces were designed with flexibility in mind.

Mantle has taken a 10-year lease of Nine Hills Road from University of Cambridge. The 30,000 sq ft building is double the size of the CB1 Business Centre at 20 Station Road which the new centre has replaced.

Mantle opened CB1 Business Centre in 2013, under a management agreement with freeholder Brookgate. Seven years on, CB1 is now being redeveloped by Brookgate. The occupiers at CB1 have transferred to Nine Hills Road, and the remaining space has attracted a high volume of enquiries.

The refurbishment of Nine Hills Road is being carried out by London-based architects Selencky///Parsons, known for creating inspiring, practical and coherent spaces. They previously worked with Mantle on Kings Court in Stevenage, The Lambourn in Abingdon, and Thremhall Park in Stansted. The Ground and First Floors at Nine Hills Road have been transformed into timeless, inspirational working environments. The refurbishment of the remaining two floors will begin in the New Year. There is the capability to create bespoke solutions for companies, whatever their size.

This year also saw the introduction of the new Home-Flexi option, where you can combine working from home with using business centre facilities to create some separation between your work and home life. More information about this new flexible workspace option is available on the Mantle website.
