It was a day packed full of knowledge sharing, and building connections. A range of speakers shared how the Cambridge ecosystem works, and how international companies can connect into the cluster. Speakers included James Parton of The Bradfield Centre, Michaela Eschbach from Cambridge Wireless, Paul Gibbons from CPCA, Anthony Pryke from Barclays Eagle Labs and Daniel Clarke from techUK.
There was an insightful panel conversation featuring Sigma Software Group’s Dmytro Tereshchenko, Ministry of Digital Transformation’s Olha Prudka, and DSIT’s Neha Vaidya. It was interesting to learn how advanced Ukraine's public services were, with more than 200 services now available through a citizen app, with key official documents like passports, educational qualifications and birth certificates all available in digital formats.
Neha Vaidya shared a positive update on progress against the recent AI Opportunities Action Plan. 38 of the 50 recommendations have already been completed, and work is ongoing with the remaining 12. The AI Skills Boost programme has delivered 1 million courses and has extended its target to train 10 million, up from the original target of 7.5 million people.
After a networking lunch in the sunshine, the delegation transferred to West Cambridge to visit the DAWN supercomputer at The University of Cambridge.
